The Context

Knocki is a smart device that empowers you to control your own network of actions via tap-based gestures. Not only can it control IoT (Internet of Things) devices, but it can also trigger batch actions that you have programmed with integrated platforms like IFTTT (If This Then That).

At the time I started (Q3 2018) we had about 10k unique users and had just fulfilled a shipment just shy of 5k devices — so a lot of people were receiving their devices. In tandem to the shipments, I worked with our full-stack engineer to set up a MixPanel dashboard to track user interactions in hopes of garnering a bit more clarity that would help me prioritize my efforts.

We set up a few funnels and quickly started to notice a huge drop-off after a user started provisioning (setting up their device).
